Let’s dive right into what is going on in Lakewood Ranch.
Premier Park Projects
Manatee County has outlined some of the first projects that will be built at the Premier Sports Campus. Here is an outline of what’s coming first, estimated costs, and estimated completion dates.
County Service Center
The Premier Sports Complex has been acquired by the County. Additional indoor recreation space in East County have been identified as a need by the Park Master Plan.
Estimated cost: $560,000
Estimated completion date: August 2022
Soccer Multi-Purpose Building
The Premier Sports Campus soccer facility is a major driver of tourism in the Lakewood Ranch area. Almost every weekend there is a major soccer tournament there, and you get hundreds of teams from across Florida and the nation. These state and national tournaments put the spotlight on Manatee County. Likewise, this facility brings many new families to our area – they stay at our hotels, eat at our restaurants, and enjoy our community. And then they may even decide to move to this area permanently.
The Premier Sports Campus already features 25 soccer fields — including eight with lights — across 14 acres, a 3,000-seat stadium, concession stands with seating areas, and permanent restroom facilities in the stadium area.
The county will continue to develop the adjacent Premier Sports Campus. air-conditioned, multipurpose soccer tents for meetings, and registration. As well as, climate-controlled restrooms, locker rooms, dining room, EMT/training room, and stadium improvements — including new lights and a scoreboard. Once completed, the 6,500-square-foot soccer structure could hold as many as 400 people in a banquet-style setting.
These improvements will be a wonderful added bonus to this amazing facility because as we all know, FL is hot, and these teams need an area where they can take in a little bit of shade at the end of the tournament and get their awards and their trophies.
Estimated cost: $2,298,410
Estimated completion date: 12/31/2023
Pickleball/Raquetball Courts
Pickleball is a big deal in LWR. And pickleball players have complained about a shortage of courts available in the Lakewood Ranch area. The county is responding to the demand with plans for a premier multi-court pickleball facility (3 pods, 8 courts in each pod with a total of 24 courts) and the capability to operate a membership-based pickleball facility with fee-paying members checking in to use the courts.
The project features:
24 pickleball courts,
The county has requested that one of the pods be constructed with a shade structure that would protect players from the elements.
Estimated cost: $4,885,257
Estimated completion date: 8/31/2022
Aquatic Facility
This new aquatic complex will be the first of its kind in Lakewood Ranch. The county plans to build a competitive 25-yard lap pool with 10 lanes and a wide shallow area for fitness and swim lessons. Includes locker rooms with showers and restrooms, first aid and lifeguard office, starting blocks, lane lines, in the pool and deck lighting, water heating and cooling system/filtration system, deck seating, and shade structures.
The county has submitted the aquatic project to contractors for proposal. The cost of the aquatic center is estimated at $13.6 million and could open by the summer of 2024.
Estimated cost: $13.6 million
Estimated completion date: 5/31/2024
East County Library
Phase I is to construct a new approximately 24,000 square foot library facility located East of I-75.
Estimated cost: $17.7 million

More projects are slated to be completed at Premier Sports Campus in the future, including:

Baseball/softball complex
